Commemorating COMD alumni and MA student Hüseyin Helvacıoğlu who passed away recently, Department of Communication and Design invites to a special screening of “My Suburban Stories.” Filmmaker Yunus Ozan Korkut, as well as friends and professors of Helvacıoğlu will be present at the screening.

My Suburban Stories” is an exclusive film witnessing the underground life in Ceyhan suburban of Adana, in southern Turkey. Director Yunus Ozan Korkut, once a local, captures the streets otherwise forbidden to the ordinary citizens in an extremely sincere style and combines it with untold stories from an exquisite pallet of characters consisting of his neighbours, friends and relatives. The film is in Turkish with English subtitles.

About the Author

Funda Şenova Tunalı joined the Department of Communication and Design in 2012. She received her BFA, MFA and PhD degrees in Graphic Design at Bilkent University, Ankara, and a European Media MA degree in Image Synthesis and Computer Animation at the Faculty of Art, Media and Technology, Utrecht School of the Arts, Hilversum, NL. She is working on digital typography, user interface design and contemporary sound design.
