The Economist Cartoonist Gave a Workshop at Bilkent

Kevin Kallaugher (KAL), the editorial cartoonist for The Economist magazine, was at Bilkent on October 6th to lead a workshop on politics and satire. The famous cartoonist shared his experience on drawing world leaders and current events. Kallaugher also discussed the challenges a political cartoonist faces. During the workshop, participants from COMD and GRA departments made some cartoons.

KAL’s work has appeared in more than 100 publications worldwide and he has won many awards for his work including the 2014 Grand Prix for Cartoon of the Year in Europe as presented by Press Cartoon Europe.

Funda Şenova Tunalı joined the Department of Communication and Design in 2012. She received her BFA, MFA and PhD degrees in Graphic Design at Bilkent University, Ankara, and a European Media MA degree in Image Synthesis and Computer Animation at the Faculty of Art, Media and Technology, Utrecht School of the Arts, Hilversum, NL. She is working on digital typography, user interface design and contemporary sound design.
