Seda Öz, Ph.D. (University of Delaware), is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Communication and Design at Bilkent University. Her research spans film studies, adaptation studies, comparative literature, and media history. Working across Turkish, German, and European cinemas, she explores film remakes, cultural translation, media circulation, and the movement of stories, aesthetics, and cultural memory across national, linguistic, and industrial borders.
She is the editor of Adaptation in Turkish Literature, Cinema, and Media (Palgrave Macmillan, 2025), and has published widely in leading journals and edited collections on adaptation, transnational cinema, and film studies. She is currently completing her monograph, The Politics of Transnational Adaptations: Mapping Border-Crossing Acts in German, Turkish, and Russian Cinema. Moreover, her ongoing digital humanities and film restoration project, recognized with the Marie Skłodowska-Curie Seal of Excellence, explores archival practices and digital methods to preserve and reinterpret cinematic heritage.
Dr. Öz serves as Treasurer of the Association of Adaptation Studies and is the Founding Editor of Adaptation Today. She previously served as Secretary of the Literature/Film Association and as Media Reviews Editor of Adaptation. Before joining Bilkent, she taught courses on writing, world literature, and film history at the University of Delaware for nearly a decade.
