“İnci Anne” wins Hasan Kalyoncu Special Award at 5th Golden Baklava Film Festival

The documentary “İnci Anne” (Mother İnci, 2019), directed by Department of Communication and Design student Yiğit Can Çaylı, received the Hasan Kalyoncu Special Award at the Golden Baklava Film Academy’s International Student Film Festival, hosted by Hasan Kalyoncu Üniversitesi on December 10–12.

Yiğit worked together with a team of his fellow COMD students to produce the film, with cinematography by Riad Afandiyev, editing by Habibe Betül Kara and sound by Salih Buhan Erol.

COMD faculty members also had a presence at the festival, offering two workshops for aspiring filmmakers. Asst. Prof. Andreas Treske and Melih Aydınat conducted a workshop on “Editing Backwards,” while a session titled “Pitch Perfect” was given by Fulten Larlar, Boran Aksoy and Dr. Funda Şenova Tunalı.*
